As you may know, most careers in the future will require some understanding of science and technology. Recent research shows that interest in science before 8th grade is a better predictor of future academic and career decisions than math achievement test scores. Playing with robots, blocks, bugs, plants, etc. will not only support students when it comes time to learn physics, chemistry, and biology, but it will also help them stay interested in science over time.
This year STEM Squared, our after-school program, will feature activities designed to engage your child(ren) in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEM Squared will begin on November 5th and meet on Mondays from 2:45 pm-3:50pm. All students are welcomed to sign up for this free afterschool program! Parents and students who wish to participate must adhere to the following:
- Complete and return the attached permission form on or before Friday, October 26, 2018!
- Must have transportation and be picked up no later than 4pm
- Must follow the Code of Conduct
- Must be in attendance on Mondays
- Must have and maintain good grades and behavior
We look forward to beginning this exciting expedition through STEM. Together, we can create a culture of kids excited about science and technology learning and careers! Please feel free to contact Ms. Lowery at ext. 146 or at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions. Thank you!
